Last night I picked up Sister Bernadette’s Barking Dog: the Quirky History and Lost Art of Diagramming Sentences by Kitty Burns Florey.  I’m only on page 45, but the book is strangely entertaining.  I was one of the weird kids in grade school who enjoyed diagramming sentences, so this book takes me back to those simpler days. It’s also an amusing observation that something so strictly taught to middle-schoolers really serves no direct purpose in the real world.
