In honor of an upcoming trip to Paris, and in memory of last time, when I asked for a “macarooooon” and got laughed at/ignored by the French pastry shop owner.

These are so good, but I will likely never bake one. Just look at the pretty pictures.

I Love Macarons by Hisako Ogita

Cute-as-can-be, buttery macarons capture the whimsy and elegance of Paris, where they’re traditionally served with tea or wrapped up in ribbon to give as a gift. But the secrets of making perfect macarons have long eluded home bakers—until now! In I Love Macarons, renowned Japanese pastry-maker Hisako Ogita brings her extensive experience to the art of baking macarons with fully illustrated foolproof step-by-step instructions.

Thank you so much for calling her a “Pastry Maker”. I am willing to be proven wrong, but I have yet to find any evidence that she is indeed a pastry “chef” as her book states. I very much enjoy her book and the information she has to offer but will reserve my judgment of her techniques until I uncover the true nature of her baking history.

ps. I hope you greatly enjoy your trip (and macarons!) as much as I know I will enjoy mine in the fall.
